A community's true value is often determined by its level of commitment to honor and pay homage to its members, living or having passed on. We take this time as a family and as members of the Abyei community to recognize the great, yet humble teacher, Lino Wuor Abyei. Early Sunday morning, September 28, 2008, Father Lino Wuor Abyei left this earth to be with the Lord. Although it was a somber occasion, he smiled peacefully as he released his spirit. A living testament of his name, Lino Wuor Abyei was full of knowledge and wisdom as he humbly took his noble and historical assignment given by God. As an ever faithful citizen of Abyei, the South and Sudan, Father Wuor Abyei dedicated his entire life for the purpose of transforming the community through education, a light which expels the darkness that has historically kept our people struggling for survival.
Our vision is to carry the banner of education and faithfully continue to represent the legacy of a late Lino Wuor Abyei. He was an educator, unwavering in dedicating his entire life to fulfill a noble goal; educating generations of young Sudanese men and women throughout the Abyei and Sudanese communities. For seven decades, the late Lino Wuor Abyei spoke of the importance of education as a key to uplifting communities and removing the fog of ignorance. He attended countless conferences and workshops throughout the country and the list of students whom he has taught and liberated have continued to pursue excellence outside of the classroom.

Our ultimate mission for the Lino Wuor Abyei Foundation is to continue the legacy of education and community wholeness. This mission is accomplished through a five programmatic effort that includes:
- Promoting family togetherness and involvement
- Providing educational programs and opportunities to youth within our communities
- Promoting family involvement in students' educational experiences
- Developing partnerships with community programs, agencies and initiatives
- Promoting international and political awareness and involvement as well as civic involvement
